SME Development Bank (SME D Bank) kicks off! New digital banking platform, a new dimension, answers all the needs of "small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)", fills capital, serves knowledge, survives sustainably

SME Development Bank introduces the ‘SME D Bank’ platform, a new dimension of digital services catering to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through the application, SME D Bank provides solutions encompassing finance, digital tools, and knowledge, elevating support to SMEs in terms of funding, strengthening business resilience, and fostering sustainable growth.

Mr. Mongkhon Leelatham, Managing Director of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Development Bank), announced that the bank has launched the “SME D Bank” platform, a new digital platform designed to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially micro-SMEs, to access financial resources and adapt to the 4.0 era. The platform is available as an app on smartphones.

The research between SME D Bank and the Thai Chamber of Commerce found that most micro-SMEs are not willing to approach financial institutions because they lack the necessary qualifications. The SME D Bank platform will help SME D Bank to identify and understand the businesses of micro-SMEs, so that it can provide support more quickly and efficiently.

1. Online loan application

The SME D Bank platform offers an online loan application service that is available 24/7. Users can check the monthly payment amount and submit an application immediately by filling out basic information. The information will be sent to the SME D Bank branch in the area where the business is located. Within seven days, a mobile service unit called “Loan Booster” will visit the business to assess its condition. This makes it easier for micro-SMEs to access low-interest loans from SME D Bank.

2. Tools Box

Tools Box is a service that provides digital tools to help SMEs upgrade their businesses to the 4.0 era. It includes over 50 free applications, such as point-of-sale software, business plan software, human resources management software, inventory management software, transportation management software, customer relationship management software. By the end of 2018, SME D Bank plans to add 100 more applications to Tools Box.

3. e-Library

e-Library is a service that provides business information, news, and how-to guides. It includes information on a variety of topics, such as management, marketing, and quality standards. The information is presented in a variety of formats, such as articles, videos, and infographics. This helps SMEs to improve their business resilience. The information is updated regularly to ensure that it is up-to-date and relevant.

Mr. Mongkhon continued that, while traditional digital banking platforms focus on financial transactions, the SME D Bank platform is designed to focus on providing convenience for micro-SMEs to access low-interest loans, such as the SME 4.0 Loan at 1% interest and the Economy Star Loan at 3% interest. The platform also provides business information and digital tools to help micro-SMEs survive and grow sustainably.

In addition, the platform offers a special service called SME Privilege. This service provides users with various benefits. For example, users earn points for each activity they complete on the SME D Bank platform. Points can be redeemed for benefits from SME D Bank’s partners and customers. For example, 30 points can be redeemed for a 25 LINE Point code, 10 points can be redeemed for two donuts from Mister Donut, 75 points can be redeemed for a 50 baht Tesco Lotus voucher, and 100 points can be redeemed for a Starbucks eCoupon worth 100 baht. In addition, some benefits can be redeemed simply by showing that the SME D Bank platform has been downloaded. For example, users can get a 20% discount on a stay at “Pa 500 Rai” and a 20% discount on all rides at Thongsombun Club.

The SME D Bank app is available for download from the Google Play Store and will soon be available from the Apple App Store. SME D Bank expects to have about 10,000 downloads and registrations within the first few months of launch.
